McGregor Volunteer Fire Department

The year 2020 celebrates 100 years of service for the McGregor Volunteer Fire Department.

The McGregor Volunteer Fire Department was organized in March of 1920. “Before that time a hugh two-wheeled, man pulled, hose cart was the town’s fire protection. The whole town would pitch in to a fight a fire. Jim Harding was named the first Fire Chief and the first fire truck was a Model T with a rear-mounted Waterous fire pump and a small hose load.” McGregor, Texas Jewel of the Prairie


They are a 100% Volunteer Fire Department that provides emergency services to the city of McGregor 9276027_origand the surrounding area.  The McGregor VFD covers 110 sq miles, one airport, Space X, two Highways, and around 10,000 people. The Fire Department prides itself on its ability to cover the 911 district and still maintain a community involvement.


The Volunteer Fire Department and the Auxiliary host numerous events every year that help provide Personal Protective Equipment and supplies in addition to events that support the McGregor community. Annual Crawfish Boil, Founders Day BBQ Fundraiser, Annual Toy Drive, Boots and Badges Blood Drive and Hamburger Supper.
