City of McGregor, Texas

McGregor Cemetery Established 1882

The McGregor Cemetery is 28+ acres and is the final resting place for loved ones, some of the Cities first citizens and veterans of foreign war. The cemetery is well maintained and fenced. It has nice roads and well laid out plots.

At the base of the flag pole is a memorial “Dedicated to the Men and Women who Served” Donated by the American Legion Post 273

On July 31, 1883, the land north of Harris Creek was deeded to the McGregor Cemetery Association to be used for a cemetery. However, this land was already in use as a cemetery. The property is divided into Blocks, Lots and spaces. Records prior to 1908 are incomplete, as this was prior to when the McGregor Cemetery Association was officially organized. In the early 2000’s the McGregor Cemetery Association transferred all operations of the McGregor Cemetery to the City of McGregor as the sole trustee. The City operates the cemetery as a perpetual care facility without the benefit of an adequate perpetual care fund.
